PAX South 2017
Flight down was uneventful, but we got some nice pictures.
We transferred through LAX and saw the HOLLYWOOD sign, and the first landed SpaceX rocket!! (We were far away and the plane was bumpy)
Our hotel had a nice view of downtown and the riverwalk
Of course the first thing we did touristing was visit the Alamo
Impressive even at night.
There was more to it than the famous entrance too.
I really enjoyed the riverwalk in San Antonio. Both the downtown parts... (Dale was super excited for the BBQ)
..and the park-like atmosphere out of downtown.
There were nice water features
And neat public art.
We saw a turtle! They have weird back legs.
And some neat birds.
We found a delightful restaurant with swings facing the riverwalk.
The church downtown was gorgeous.
And they did a lightshow showing the history of San Antonio on the church
We spent a day visiting the other missions along the San Antonio river
We saw the famous Rose Window
And admired the interesting stonework and paintings.
I thought it was neat you could see where the filled in the bigger door to a smaller one.
The food in Texas was all amazing.
And the restaurants were bright and boisterous!
There were delicious Mexican baked goods.
And even mariachi bands!
No one told me there were unicorns in Texas! Sadly, I didn't get a ride.
And they get sunsets that cover the sky
And then, the reason we came down: PAX South!
There were some amazing cosplays.
A Magic card vending machine (I got one for a friend)
And I played some games. (I won)
I also went to my first protest! Everyone was very friendly, and there were some great geeky signs.
The flight down and back both had an amazing sunset.
Much to my surprise, Vancouver's arrivals has an amazing coast salish room.
